Visual creative & Performing Arts

Visual creative & Performing Arts at Clayfield College takes the form of a rich and varied program of classroom and extra-curricular activities. The world famous Kodaly music teaching method with its associated lateral thinking is used from Pre-Prep to Year 12. Students have access to the full range of musical opportunities such as concerts and musicals orchestras and stage bands and individual voice and instrumental tuition. Drama students are provided with a variety of opportunities to perform creatively while Visual Art provides students with the opportunity to gain an insight into the various elements of art combined with the principles of design.

Sport

Clayfield College is proud of its tradition and success in the QGSSSA (Queensland Girls’ Secondary School Sports Association) and in the Andrews Cup (Primary Schools) competitions for girls. Participation in sports activities is encouraged for all students from Prep through to Year 12. A range of sports is offered in the Junior and Senior Schools including: artistic gymnastics athletics cross country netball softball swimming tennis and touch football. Within the Senior School program cricket Hockey soccer volleyball and badminton are also offered.

Boarding Life

Clayfield College has a proud and reputed tradition as a boarding school for girls with boarding accommodation available for girls from Year 5 through to Year 12. Our boarding complex turrawan accommodates over one hundred girls in a purpose-built state-of-the-art self-contained boarding facility. The Turrawan complex provides a variety of accommodation styles ranging from single ensuited rooms and twin share facilities to small dormitory style accommodation for the younger girls. All girls become part of smaller ‘families’ within the Boarding House. The older students assist younger members and all care for each other in an empathic tolerant understanding and friendly manner.
