Collaborative Teaching Model in Junior School

In Junior School (Years K-4) the College has a unique collaborative teaching model where two qualified teachers co-teach classes until lunch every day maximising individual student engagement and establishing a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy. That's a teacher student ratio of 1: 10 in Years K-2 and 1: 12 in Years 3-4. A diverse range of subjects and specialist teachers in Music pE/Sport library and Japanese are also available.

Specialised Programmes in Middle School

Two programmes are unique to the College in Middle School (Years 5-8). PlatoProgramme offers students the opportunity to expand their thinking and learning skills while Service Learning engages students in a service capacity while acquiring skills outside the normal classroom. The Middle School provides opportunities for students to grow as confident learners. The College supports the students from Year 5 to Year 8 as they make the transition into adolescence with an active and real-world approach to learning. Middle School learning incorporates the Head Heart Hands Programme which encourages students to consider how and why they learn and the importance of developing their God given skills and talents. Service to the community is an important element of this programme.

Studying in Senior School

Students in Years 9 and 10 complete mandatory subjects and also two elective subjects in a variety of areas. Electives are offered in any given year subject to a reasonable number of students selecting that course. In Years 11-12 Christian Development and English are compulsory. Students can then choose from a wide range of academic and vocational courses leading up to the HSC. Electives are offered in any given year subject to a reasonable number of students selecting that course. While academic study is emphasised in these years opportunities for leadership and service to others are also important aspects of the Senior School.

Pastoral Care and Tutor Groups

The structure of the College’s Pastoral Care programme is a distinctive feature of the College. Students benefit from being known well by staff and other year groups. Pastoral Care is also instrumental in developing self-esteem and confidence levels. K-4: Class based pastoral care and Christian devotion daily. 5-12: Tutor groups are arranged vertically in Years 5-8 and 9-12 groupings so all students feel connected and known within their year and by older and younger students. Years 5-12 also engage in a pastoral care programme and daily devotion.
