Danube International School, Vienna- Austria International SchoolsDanube International School (DIS) is situated in the heart of Vienna. The school was founded by a group of parents and businessmen interested in developing a high quality international school with a family atmosphere. DIS serves the needs of the international and local communities and it has grown to provide a quality education for children from age 3 to 18. With about 250 students from 38 different nationalities, we are able to provide a broad range of educational offerings whilst maintaining a high standard of individual care. The school is a member of the European Council of International Schools and the International Baccalaureate Organisation with which it maintains strong links. Danube International School (DIS) provides for the full age range with an elementary section (age 5 to 11) and secondary (age 11-18). In Grades 6-10 the school is authorized to deliver the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme and in Grades 11 and 12 the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma. Most students at DIS are multi-lingual. The majority of our students in the Elementary School learn two or three languages, in the Secondary School three or four and some of our international students are familiar with five or six languages. Formal tuition in the mornings and afternoons is followed by a full and varied programme that includes cultural activities, community service and sport. Students take their work seriously and are ready to seek guidance. We are proud of our results and continually strive for excellence. The Danube International School (DIS) faculty also represents a wide range of experience and comprises of 12 different nationalities. There is an active parents association that facilitates communication among parents and within the broader school community. The school year lasts from late August until the end of June. Danube International School (DIS) is situated in a pleasant district of Vienna overlooking the Danube Canal. Recently renovated, the building comprises a good range of classrooms and other facilities that include three laboratories, a computer room, a sports hall, a theatre and a library.
