British International School of Brussels

The British International School of Brussels, established in 2000, offers the English National Curriculum to English-speaking children aged two to eleven, using a broad and balanced programme. The school aims to foster the essential human qualities of mutual respect, integrity, kindness, loyalty, self-discipline, independence, consideration, and self-confidence, equipping children to become internationally aware citizens. The school is centrally located in a two-storey building, providing a good working environment for both staff and children. The school building currently uses six large and attractive classrooms, a computer suite with cable Internet connection, an outside playground and facilities for individual music practice and a separate library and central display area. All of the full-time staff are British, hold qualified teacher status in Britain and are British trained. The small class sizes (current average is less than 12) are a significant attraction to parents as they allow a high degree of individual attention. Together with strongly encouraged parental involvement, this gives the school its sense of community. The curriculum is being broadened whilst the school improves and extends its facilities. The academic year has approximately 178 school days divided into three terms from early September to late December, early January until early April and late April until early July. The school day starts at 09: 00 and extends until 15: 25 (although many children in Nursery and pre-Nursery attend for mornings only and finish at 12: 15).
