Institute for System Level Integration
The Institute for System Level Integration provides postgraduate education, professional training and research in system level integration and system-on-chip (SoC) technologies. Its aim is to support the development of electronics systems design worldwide and to encourage the exploration of new technologies through research.
About the Institute
The Institute for System Level Integration (ISLI) is a collaborative venture of four of the United Kingdom’s leading universities – Edinburgh, Glasgow, Heriot-Watt and Strathclyde. It is located in a modern purpose-built building in the new town of Livingston, close to Scotland’s’ two major cities, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
ISLI is the first centre of excellence in the disciplines of System Level Integration and enabling technologies to be established worldwide, and combines expertise from the departments and schools of the four partner universities. Its mission is to carry out education, training and research in all aspects of System Level Integration, including hardware, software and nanostructures. ISLI’s activities produce highly skilled design engineers and researchers to meet the needs of the rapidly changing global semiconductor industry.
ISLI offer a one-year MSc in System Level Integration designed for graduates in electronic engineering, computer science and other relevant disciplines. The course has been designed with substantial input from industry and is recognised as the world’s first postgraduate qualification aimed specifically at engineers working in leading edge ‘crossover’ technologies.
Successful graduates are awarded a joint degree of the four partner universities.
