The Road to an IB World School
The school was founded as an English language high school. On 11 February 2003 "Prof. Vassil Zlatarski" Private School became the first authorised school in Bulgaria in the large family of the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). The school joined the IBO to apply international standards to Bulgarian education, to develop in its students the confidence and skills the modern world requires and to prepare its graduates for university entry in Bulgaria and abroad. The authorisation committees of the IBO gave a high grade for the academic standard, the highly qualified teachers, the campus facilities and the warm atmosphere of the school.
Zlatarski School is proud to call itself an IB world school thanks to the mutual efforts of the whole school community.
We are constantly seeking to improve our programmes and our levels of individual support to give every student the best preparation for the future that we can and to make them aware of their local and global responsibilities and their potential as they develop into adults.
" The Bulgarian Ministry of Education strongly supported the ambitious step for a Bulgarian school to join the IBO and approved the school's two-stage curriculum - the first 8-10 grade and the second 11-12 grade.
The first stage covers the general requirements for secondary education, and the second stage is designed to prepare students for university education through the concentration on specific subjects. This gives students the freedom to choose subjects from the three educational areas - Mathematics, Natural Sciences and the Humanities. "
Our approach to learning
"At Zlatarski School, students learn and discover in a supportive and welcoming environment. Through our challenging programs, they gain critical thinking, problem solving and communication skills, which prepares them for the world of tomorrow. Our graduates are accepted to and attend the most prestigious universities in Bulgaria and around the world. " 49 Kliment Ohridski blvd, Sofia, Bulgaria 1756
