Simon Fraser University opened its doors in 1965 atop Burnaby Mountain to embark on a bold academic journey that challenged convention and embraced change. The University, named after explorer Simon Fraser, has been rated as Canada’s best comprehensive university five times in the annual rankings of Maclean’s magazine and has consistently placed at, or near, the top of the publication’s national evaluations. SFU BUSINESS students are a select, carefully chosen group. In the BBA program, you’ll develop your knowledge and skills in core business studies, and choose your specializations in one or more of seven areas, customizing your degree to suit your interests and future career plans. There are many programs to choose from when completing a degree in Business Administration. You can complete a Major, Joint Major, a Minor or an Honours degree. You can pursue a Joint Major with other departments such as Computing Science or Geography. One of our unique programs is a Joint Major in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry and Business Administration, which prepares students to work in emerging biotechnology enterprises. All programs comprise two stages. The first stage is made up of lower
division requirements, group requirements and electives. This stage aims to
balance qualitative and quantitative courses and expose you to a broad range of
topics. The last half of your degree consists of core business courses,
concentration courses, upper-level requirements and electives. In this second
stage, you ill gain depth and specialize in one or more areas of business. As a
program graduate, you’ll hold a prestigious business degree and be welcomed into

TechOne is an integrated, cohort-based program for students seeking to major in business, computing science, engineering or interactive arts and technology. It consists of 30 credits of required and elective courses taken over two semesters. TechOne is full-time study and students are required to register for 15 credits of course work per term. After their first year of preparatory study, business students begin to take core instruction in all business areas including accounting, marketing, finance, human resources management, operations, information systems, economics, law, and the application of business policy to local and international markets. After gaining this comprehensive business background, they will take courses in their senior years in order to specialize in one of the areas of concentration.
