Study to be an Educational Paraprofessional
Education and Teaching at Kaplan University
ASIS/Educational Paraprofessional (Teacher's Aide):
The Associate of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (ASIS)
with Educational Paraprofessional emphasis area combines the
strong foundation of interdisciplinary studies with specialized
skills that will enable the student to be an effective
paraprofessional in the classroom, child care center, or any
other setting where instructional aides may be of assistance.
While the interdisciplinary aspect of the degree addresses the
general knowledge and critical professional skills of
communication, critical thinking, and technical competencies,
the Educational Paraprofessional emphasis area provides the
relevant knowledge and skills for effectively instructing
students of all ages and abilities. Additionally, many students
who choose this emphasis area go on to pursue teaching
certification after completion of the program.
