The school was purpose-built to the highest specification on an open site in Colomiers, on the western edge of Toulouse. The secondary and primary schools are housed in separate buildings. The primary school shares a brand new purpose-built facility with the German primary school. The central administrative rotunda, which provides a striking main entrance to the school, is in the secondary building. The buildings feature a range of contemporary facilities. In all areas of the school, particular emphasis is placed on the creative and sophisticated use of communications technology - all teaching rooms are networked for individual laptop computer use, and pupils from the age of nine upwards work with them. Rooms are also equipped with interactive whiteboards. Programmes of study are based on the English National Curriculum, the IPC and enhanced by an international perspective. In the secondary school, students are prepared for the IGCSEs, GCSEs and the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme. The school aims to provide an overtly positive and supportive learning environment. With a commitment to the pursuit of academic excellence and attaching a high value to creativity, imagination and the quest for knowledge and understanding, the school encourages all students to discover and enjoy their individual strengths and capacities. From the start of school, a high priority is given to developing fluency in both English and French to promote academic achievement and participation in the global community. The performing arts have a particularly high profile in the school. They are seen as an integral part of the curriculum. A wealth of opportunities is available for pupils to utilize their musical and drama ability in events and performances. Individual tuition is also available on a wide range of instruments. |
