Learning Support Programme
The International School of Ulm/Neu-Ulm (ISU) is a private school, recognized by the government of Bavaria as an "Ersatzschule". The school has been in operation since September 2005 and currently offers an educational programme to children ranging in age from 3 to 18 years of age. One grade level will be added each year with the first graduation year (Grade 12) starting in September 2012.
In line with the school's mission statement, ISU aims to foster a spirit of inquisitiveness and appreciation of the world by its students. The academic programmes at ISU serve to develop knowledgeable and skilled young people well equipped to pursue professional aspirations while keeping their civic responsibility in mind. The educational programme is based around the programmes of the International Baccalaureate (IB). ISU is authorized by the IB to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP). The Upper years programme has been developed by the school with a focus on autonomous learning and incorporates a mix of IB MYP and IGCSE elements. ISU is authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme.
ISU provides all day education from 08: 00 until 17: 00 which includes a varied and rich after school programme for students to explore and develop their talents in the afternoon.
The language of instruction at ISU is English while also emphasizing German, French and Spanish. ISU makes a particular effort to interlink with educational institutions within the area of Ulm. The student population currently consists of 21 different nationalities.
The campus is located in Neu-Ulm in a former office building which has been renovated to suit the educational purpose of ISU. A swimming pool, sports hall as well as field and track facilities are located across the street from the school. Hot lunches are available on site.
