St Catherine's British Embassy School


St. Catherine s British Embassy School currently teaches 730 pupils aged 3 18 from 52 countries. It is situated within its own grounds in northern Athens near the elegant suburb of Kifissia. It has excellent teaching, sporting and recreational facilities as would be expected of a leading international school teaching an advanced curriculum. The School offers an Early Years foundation programme for children ages 3 4, the National Curriculum for England and Wales for ages 5 13, the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) for students age 14 16 and the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme leading to university entrance. In addition to teaching a full and varied curriculum, St. Catherine s has made substantial investments in information and communication technology throughout the school, at every level of the curriculum and within the school s organization. The School has a rich programme of extra-curriculum activities ranging from the International Award (The Duke of Edinburgh Award), music lessons leading to the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music examinations, the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art examinations, sports activities and tournaments, school trips both in Greece and abroad and a variety of opportunities for students to be in plays, concerts and musicals.
St. Catherine s British Embassy School s internationally acclaimed reputation is gained by achieving high academic standards within a challenging curriculum. Character building and inter-personal skills are developed through a range of relevant educational experiences and extra-curricular activities. A leading exponent of global citizenship, pupils are encouraged to develop problem-solving skills, conflict resolution skills, negotiation strategies, and have an understanding of multi-cultural, multi-faith and multiracial concepts within the context of cultural pluralism. Tests and interviews are held throughout the year for those wishing to enter the school at all levels. Younger children are invited to the school with their parents. Students wishing to enter the Upper School are required to sit age-related entry examinations and attend an interview.
