Climate:

The climate is temperate with mild winters and cool sunnier summers. The hottest months are August and September, when temperatures are generally around 20 °C (68 °F).

Language:

The linguistic situation of the Bailiwick of Guernsey is quite similar to that of Jersey, the other Bailiwick in the Channel Islands. English is the official language, French is used for administration, there are several varieties of Norman language used by a minority of the population, and Portuguese is spoken by immigrants in the workforce.

Currency:

Guernsey has its own currency but all UK notes and coins are legal tender, and circulate with the Channel Islands issue. Pound Sterling (GBP; symbol £) = 100 pence. Notes are in denominations of £50, 20, 10, 5 and 1. Coins are in denominations of £2 (special issue) and 1, and 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1 pence

Population:

Guernsey's population has grown to 62,274, according to figures in the first Annual Population Bulletin.

Capital City:

Saint Peter Port is the capital of Guernsey as well as the main port.
