ISG offers a complete American and International educational program in the English language for all students from Preschool (age 3) to Grade 12 (age 18) leading to the achievement of both The ISG American Schools Diploma and The International Baccalaureate Diploma. ISG is accredited with The European Council of International Schools, The New England Association of Schools and Colleges and is authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. ISG integrates the host country language to ensure that Italian nationals receive an effective bilingual educational program and French and Italian as a second language are offered for all students.
The school's purpose is to share the culture of the host nation and other nations to develop an international perspective and to help the student prepare for life as a responsible member of a global society. Classes are taught with an orientation towards a global outlook. The school annually celebrates such occasions as United Nations Day, Columbus Day and Thanksgiving, as well as diverse cultural and national holidays, depending on the makeup of the student body. The school is involved in Action Aid, a school-wide program that develops an understanding of the Third World and raises money to sponsor children in India and Africa along with supporting other development projects.
The International School in Genoa is accredited by the Council of International Schools (COIS, www.cois.org) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC, www.neasc.org). ISG received its most recent re-accreditation in the spring of 2005.
The school was authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO, www.ibo.org) to teach its Diploma Programme starting in April 2002. In June 2004 it graduated its first International Baccalaureate Grade 12 Diploma Class. 100% of ISG’s IB Diploma candidates have since earned their Diplomas, many with outstanding results, and have gone on to study in excellent universities in Italy, the rest of Europe, and the United States.
