In addition to a stimulating and caring environment, Marymount offers students a values-based education modeled on an American curriculum that emphasizes respect, appreciation, and tolerance, while promoting a life-long love of learning. 750 students from more than 60 different countries make up the student body at Marymount. These students are challenged and engaged by a curriculum that is carefully designed to form a continuum from early childhood through high school. They also enjoy access to the latest technology in and out of the classroom, including state-of-the art computer labs, 22 inter-active whiteboards, fully equipped libraries, and wireless technology throughout the campus. Students benefit from a close relationship with the school’s highly qualified and long-serving faculty, which includes a team of learning specialists, ESL teachers, guidance counselors, an IB coordinator, curriculum coordinator, and college counselor. Marymount’s graduates, 98% of whom continue directly on to higher education, earn an American high school diploma, and many elect to take part in Marymount’s longstanding International Baccalaureate program, offered at the school since 1985. Since 2007, Marymount offers Advanced Placement courses online as part of an arrangement with Virtual High School. Students performance is methodically assessed throughout all levels, and the school participates in the American Testing Program, the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, and the College Board Entrance Examinations. While emphasis is placed on academic success, Marymount also offers a physical education program with varsity-level teams in soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and field, and cross country, as well as extracurricular activities, including music, drama, dance, Model United Nations, National Honor Society, private music and language lessons, and myriad after-school programs. Marymount is situated on a beautiful 16-acre campus in northern Rome, served by a fleet of buses that accommodate students in most areas of the city. The school, which opened in 1946, is also distinguished by its association with the worldwide network of Marymount schools, all of which were founded by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. |
