Graduate School of Science and Engineering at National Defense Academy Japan NDA established the Graduate School of Science and Engineering in 1962 for the purpose of educating and training those officers who had graduated from the NDA and civilian universities, together with those civilian officials serving the JDA. The Course has seven Major subjects, consisting of 16 branches and covering 54 areas of study.
Students are admitted each year selected by the entrance examination. They live on the Academy campus, and study for full two years under the guidance and supervision of their instructors. The level of the Postgraduate Course is equivalent to that of the master course of civilian universities. In order to graduate, the students are required not only to complete the courses with a minimum of 30 credits for compulsory and elective subjects, but also to write their respective theses on the subjects they have majored in and to pass the graduation examination. In addition, the students who passed the thesis examination on by the National Institution for Academic Degrees are granted master's degree.
