The school was established in September 1999 as the Astana branch of the Nursultan Nazarbaev Educational Foundation, charged with developing a new model of education in Kazakhstan based on the national Kazakh Standards curriculum and the curricula of the International Baccalaureate Organization. The school is accredited by both the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. It is authorized to offer three IB programmes. The school is also certified to offer the IGCSE in Grades 9 & 10. There are specialist-teaching areas for visual art and design technology, spacious music and dance rooms, Concert Hall at the heart of the school for assemblies and other performances. Annual fees include a full menu provided throughout the day in a state-of-the-art kitchen and cafeteria area. There are also specialized support facilities for a full-time doctor, nurses, four educational psychologists and two speech therapists. Starting in September the school year is separated into two semesters, each of two terms. |
