Micronesia Education The
climate of Micronesia can be described as a typical
warm, tropical climate with two different seasons. The
native languages of the various Micronesian indigenous
peoples are classified under the Austronesian language
family. Almost all of these languages belong to the
Oceanic branch of this family, and mostly to the
Micronesian languages division within that branch. Micronesia Currency is US Dollar.
Abbreviated as USD or US $, the most common symbol of US
Dollar is $. It serves as the official currency of the
Federated States of Micronesia and is used in all
transactions. One US Dollar is divided into 100 cents. The population of Micronesia was
estimated at 134, 597 in July 2001, up 18 percent from
114, 000 in 1998. The current annual population growth
rate is 3.28 percent, which will result in a population
of 176, 815 by 2010. Palikir is the capital of the Federated
States of Micronesia since 1989, when it replaced
Kolonia, the other large settlement on the island.
