Rangiora High School has, since
1884, provided the families of this district with quality
co-educational secondary education. The school's philosophy
is underpinned by our motto "Lux Cum Amore", translated as
"Enlightenment with Friendship", or "Kua Puawai te
Hoahoatanga". As an educational institution we are committed
to providing a high quality learning environment, which promotes
the best possible educational, social, cultural and recreational
development of the individual.

Students

The Dean is responsible for ensuring
that international students are well looked after.

Homestay is arranged by the school.
All homes are carefully chosen and close liaison is maintained.

Advice and guidance on course
selection and preparation for university is available from the Dean of
International Students.

Students are met at the airport and
taken to homestays.

Experienced and qualified teachers
offer ESL programmes up to TOEFL level, for up to 8 hours per week

Students are accepted at every level
from Year 9 to 13.
Courses
of Study

Students in Year 9-11 must study
English, Maths, Science, Physical Education and Health. Other subjects
are selected from a wide range: Art, Accounting, Economics, Design
Technology, Home Economics, Geography, History, Text and Information
Management, Agriculture, French, Japanese, Maori, Music, Science,
Graphics, Design Technology Metal/Wood.

Year
12 students must study English and 5 other subjects from: Art,
Photography, Art History, Accounting, Economics, Legal Studies,
English, Design Technology, Catering and Nutrition, Geography,
Classics, History, Computer Studies, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry,
French, Japanese, Maori, Mathematics, Physical Education, Biology,
Chemistry, Physics, Design Technology, Graphics.

Year
13 students study for NCEA Level 3 for University Entrance and
Scholarship. Up to 5 subjects chosen from: Painting,
Photography, Art History, Accounting, Economics, English, Geography,
Classics, History, Mathematics Stats, Mathematics Calculus, Physical
Education, Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Graphics, French,
Japanese.

Other
subjects available are: Garment Construction, Catering and Nutrition,
Tourism, Computer Applications, Electronics, Rural Studies,
Horticulture, Outdoor Pursuits, Business Studies.

Senior
students may choose from Year 11, 12 or 13 to meet their individual
needs. The Dean will advise.
Qualifications

Rangiora High School prepares
students for University, Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics.

2003 University Entrance, and
Scholarship qualifications are internationally recognised and gained
by passing national examinations in late November.

In 2004 these qualification replaced
with NCEA Level 3.
