Dominion English Schools Everyone
speaks English in New Zealand. Our English is pure and clear; it is an
international English easily understood anywhere in the world. New
Zealand is a small, quiet and green country, with only about 4 million
people in a country as large as Chile, Italy or Japan. New Zealand is
dominated by Nature, with magnificent beaches, lakes and mountains.
There are no snakes and very few predators in New Zealand. You can
become a new person in New Zealand. You can relax, breathe fresh air,
drink clean water, and meet friendly New Zealanders who enjoy helping
visitors to practise English. DOMINION ENGLISH SCHOOLS have an International reputation for high
academic standards, extensive activity programmes and a friendly “at
home” atmosphere. Dominion is a New Zealand owned company and is located Downtown in Auckland and Christchurch. Dominion never closes (except public holidays). Students can transfer between schools. There is a maximum of 155 students in each school: large enough to have 8 levels of English; small enough for everyone to be your friend. There are Junior Schools for students 12 years - 17 years and Senior Schools for students 18 years +. There is a Silvers Programme for students 50 years +. Last year 1,365 students from 33 countries studied English at Dominion:
50% were Asian, 45% were European. At DOMINION ENGLISH SCHOOLS there are kitchens where students can make
light meals (free tea /coffee is available at all times); a library and
quiet study area; a recreation room with pool and piano; a multi media
centre; free access to e-mail and internet. Dominion is Government
Registered as a Private Training Establishment. Dominion is a signatory
to the Ministry of Education Code of Practice for the Recruitment,
Welfare and Support of International Students.
At both schools in Auckland and Christchurch, DOMINION ENGLISH SCHOOLS
has WORKING HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE CENTRES, to assist students to find
employment, and to provide advice (accommodation, minimum wages, tax
rules, workers' rights, employers' responsibilities, etc). DOMINION ENGLISH SCHOOLS' welfare officers monitor all accommodation. Homestay is with a New Zealand family. Breakfast and dinner Mondays to
Fridays. Breakfast, lunch and dinner Saturdays, Sundays and Public
Holidays. Single room. Laundry provided. Only one student of each
nationality in the house (unless otherwise requested). For students 50 years + (special 5% discount available) A separate lounge for relaxation away from younger students when desired.
Free postcards and writing materials. A Dominion staff member is
assigned to be your “buddy” while you are in New Zealand, to assist
you to enjoy New Zealand. A home stay with host families with your interests (wherever possible). Native speaking counsellors available if any medical assistance is
required. The DOMINION ENGLISH SCHOOLS cultural, social and sporting activity programme has been designed to enable students to meet New Zealanders, enjoy their New Zealand experience, and share their cultures with other students. Activities are arranged every afternoon, every weekend and after school. Every week there is a social evening, free activities on Friday afternoon and a free TV/video movie. Dominion staff regularly go to the theatre and restaurants with students, as well as joining students at pub evenings. CLASSES: Classes are Monday to
Friday, from 9.00-12.00 in the morning and 1.00-4.00 in the afternoon,
with a half hour tea/coffee break in the morning and afternoon. One
afternoon per week 3.30 - 4.00pm, students in the school join together
in guided conversation to build confidence and fluency. A teacher is
available, free, Mondays 4.15-5.15pm, to assist with personal academic
problems. AIRPORT: Dominion meets all students, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and
transfers them to their accommodation. When requested students are met
by Dominion from international flights and transferred to domestic
flights. All outbound flights are confirmed prior to departure. All
students receive transfers back to the airport at the end of their
visit.
