Kristin School New Zealand

Kristin School is an independent, non-denominational co-educational school of about 1400 students from Kindergarten to Year 13 (Form 7) situated on Auckland's North Shore. Since its establishment by a group of parents in 1973, Kristin has become one of New Zealand's premiere schools with an enviable record of academic, cultural and sporting achievements. Kristin espouses a Christian ethos and values.

Kristin School is built on a beautiful 20-hectare site within the growing northern fringe of Auckland, the fastest-growing region of New Zealand. The school is set out in park-like grounds with outstanding facilities. Buildings include a specially-constructed kindergarten, classrooms, junior and secondary libraries, science and computer laboratories, two full-size gymnasiums, chapel, an arts centre complex incorporating teaching space for art, drama and music, a 150-seat AV theatre, with a 1200-seat auditorium as the centrepiece.

Back to topSchool Structure

Kristin School is structured as three schools within one school all on the same campus:

Junior School Kindergarten to Year 6 (4 years to 11 years)
Middle School Year 7 to Year 10 (11 years to 15 years)
Senior School Year 11 to Year 13 (15 years to 18 years)

Each school has its own Principal and pastoral-care structure and seeks to create its own distinctive educational character within the overall philosophy and ethos of Kristin School.

For more information on the three schools and their character visit the Curriculum section.

Back to topStudent Welfare

At Kristin, the well-being of our students is paramount. Distinct pastoral-care structures are adopted at different levels to best meet the needs of students.

Junior School students have a 'home-room' teacher who is primarily responsible for the well-being and progress of children in their class.

Year 7 and 8 students in the Middle School also have a home-room teacher who teaches core subjects and provides pastoral care.

Year 9 and 10 students in the Middle School and all Senior School students belong to Tutor groups that are designed to promote ongoing nurture and support through their years at Kristin.

Deans at each year level oversee the pastoral-care network within the school.
