Natcoll Design Technology New Zealand

Natcoll Design Technology (Natcoll) is New Zealand's largest specialist private tertiary provider of creative digital technology courses and related resources. Natcoll offer an exciting range of courses designed to give students the technical skills required for a career in the creative digital industries.

Established in 1997, campuses are located in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, which offer:
* intensive NZQA-approved vocationally-based certificate and diploma courses.
* short courses for the community, primary and secondary school students and teachers.
* block training modules for print apprentices.
* senior secondary school curriculum in creative digital technology.
* educational books and resources.

The government has recognised Natcoll's commitment to education and determination to provide first-class educational opportunities in the following ways:

* The Tertiary Education Commision has granted Natcoll a 7-year approval for its charter.
* Natcoll is amongst a small percentage of tertiary providers to be granted a 3-year audit cycle by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.

Student Learning

Students of all ages and backgrounds study with us. Some are school leavers, while others have taken time out from the workplace to retrain. This combination of ages and experiences gives Natcoll a truly unique feel and helps produce an environment that enables every student to realise his or her potential.

Class numbers are restricted to 15 students (Diploma of Digital Media (Advanced)) or 20 students (all other diploma courses). Such a high staff/student ratio allows students to have quality time working closely with Natcoll’s experienced tutors. Each student works at his or her own workstation.

Natcoll has several intakes throughout the year. These varied start times allow students to commence studying at the time most convenient to them. Clear study guidelines are provided with staff available to help students manage their time and meet deadlines.

Facilities

Reflecting real-life industry working environments, Natcoll's campuses are situated in modern, multi-storied buildings in central city locations. Students love the focused yet laid-back atmosphere. Each campus has a spacious student common room. The teaching facilities include well-equipped computer suites with up-to-date software and equipment. All campuses are within walking distance of shops, art galleries, libraries and public transport.

To ensure we maintain our excellent learning environments, every campus has a student representative body that meets regularly with campus principals and staff.

Vocational Opportunities

Natcoll is committed to helping students in the development of their careers. A range of employment-related services are offered and information is provided to assist students exploring, identifying and pursuing their individual goals.

Industry Links

Natcoll fosters strong links with the business community to ensure they are kept abreast of industry needs and new developments in the constantly evolving world of digital design.

Entry Criteria

Entry criteria to all Natcoll courses is flexible and is not reliant solely on academic qualifications. Prospective students are interviewed in person and Natcoll staff go to great lengths to consider each student’s creative abilities every bit as much as their prior learning.
