Tauranga Intermediate is the largest school of it's type in New Zealand, employing approximately 90 staff to support the education of over 1100 students between the ages of 11 and 13. Situated in the sunny Bay of Plenty, Tauranga is one of the fastest growing cities in NZ. The school draws from a variety of economic strata and has a Decile 4 rating

The school consists of 28 mainstream classes, one satellite special needs unit, two bilingual classes, four accelerated classes, one multi-media class and one booster class: a total of 37 in all. Facilities are modern, and with a major building project being completed in 2000 it now has a large cultural and recreation centre with adjacent all weather playing courts, state of the art technology and science block, administration centre and spacious library.

This is the FOCUS of TAURANGA INTERMEDIATE until 2005. It defines what we want to achieve during the span of our current strategic plan.

TAURANGA INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL is dedicated to nuturing and equipping emerging adolescents with the abilities needed to become citizens of discernment who value integrity, work ethic, excellence and achievement and who will contribute to New Zealand and the World as confident, competent and compassionate adults.

TAURANGA INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL exists to provide an education that prepares our students to be highly ethical citizens of New Zealand and the World, who think with innovation, reason critically, communicate effectively and enjoy learning throughout life.

Our VISION and MISSIONS are driven by VALUES and BELIEFS and where Tauranga Intermediate is now in it's history and where it wants to be.

This can be interpreted to mean 'seek out knowledge and experiences, go beyond your comfort zone and focus on self improvement.'
