Oslo International School


Founded in 1963, the Oslo International School offers a high quality English language education for children of all nationalities from 3-18 years of age. The school is a not-for-profit educational trust and is governed by a 9 member School Board. OIS is accredited by CIS and NEASC and is Norway's oldest international school.
CURRICULUM
International Primary Curriculum (IPC), International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB). The IPC encompasses History, Geography, Science, Art, Information and Communication Technology, Music, Society and Personal, Social & Health Education. English, Mathematics, Norwegian, Drama and Physical Education are taught as stand alone subjects outside of the IPC curriculum. The IB is a challenging 2-year pre-university course of study designed for highly motivated students. Choice of subjects can be made within 6 groups, including Languages, Humanities, Experimental Sciences, Mathematics and an elective subject. In addition, all students are required to do Theory of Knowlege, and extended essay on an aspect of their studies, and Creativity, Action and Service.
STAFF
All staff members are fully qualified and experienced. Staff represents 15 different nationalities. The majority of the staff permanently reside in Oslo.
FACILITIES
In addition to classrooms and group rooms, the school also has 3 laboratories, an art room, music and drama room, 2 computer rooms, a domestic science room, a well-stocked library and a gymnasium. The school has a large playground and sports field as well as access to further playing fields and a public swimming pool.
SCHOOL YEAR AND SCHOOL DAY
School is in session from late August to late June. The school day is from 9. 00-15. 00 Monday-Thursday and 9. 00-14. 15 Friday.

At the Oslo International School we seek to create a caring and secure learning environment in which every member of the school community will be supported and encouraged to realise his/her potential. Our aim is to equip students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes which will prepare them for the challenges of a rapidly changing international society.
