The British International School of Stavanger (BISS) provides IB education for both expatriate and permanent residents residing in south west Norway. The school was founded in 1977 and is recognized for its high quality provision and holistic approach to education. The school is truly international and currently has over fifty nationalities on roll. Our top priority is to prepare students, whatever their background and length of tenure in Norway, for success and to achieve contentment in their future lives.
A family atmosphere prevails and a strong community spirit exists. The school promotes a British ethos and offers complete continuity and progression for students who return to schools in the UK, or elsewhere in the world. The majority of teachers have experience of UK education and the school is regularly inspected by OFSTED approved inspectorates.
BISS is fully inclusive and welcomes applications from students with special educational needs and where English is not the mother tongue language. Similarly, gifted and talented students are catered for through focused differentiation and a wide range of enrichment and extension activities throughout the curriculum. The promotion of the performing arts and outdoor education is a key feature of the school.
The school opened its college extension in August 2015 and is fully accredited to deliver IB Diploma and IBCP/BTEC courses.
