History
Santa Barbara Business College is one of the oldest colleges in
California and the country.
The College was founded in 1888 as a California business college and
normal institute. Normal institutes trained teachers at the turn of the
20th century. The primary curriculum focus throughout SBBC's long
history has been business.
In recent years, curriculum offerings have expanded to include programs
in Allied Health, Information Technology, Paralegal and Criminal Justice
in addition to the traditional Business offerings. Santa Barbara
Business College also offers Associate degrees to enrich the learning
experience and increase lifelong earning potential. According to the
U.S. Census Bureau, individuals who have earned an Associate degree will
earn on average 30 percent more than those individuals with only a high
school diploma or GED.
Establishing very close ties with the business community and changing
quickly to meet employer demands have always been hallmarks of this
California college's rich history and success. Santa Barbara Business
College is an accredited business college that has grown into five
campuses, with locations in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, Bakersfield,
Palm Desert and Ventura, California. We serve thousands of students,
alumni and employers each year. Thousands of graduates work and hold
important positions in the communities we serve, and we are proud to
have educated many generations of the families in these communities.
For more than a century, the market-driven, student-centered,
employer-based philosophy serving the Colleges' California communities
has been a cornerstone to its successful, long history. Thousands of
graduates have benefited from the short-term, career-focused training
provided during the long, distinguished history of Santa Barbara
Business College in California.

Santa Barbara Business College has always offered a job-readiness
curriculum. For those interested in success in business, our Associate
Degree program enhances the Diploma programs by adding occupationally
oriented general education classes to all Diploma programs, which will
allow current, former and new students the option of obtaining their
Associate degrees.
We call this option the Career-first Curriculum. Job-readiness is the
key. Students concentrate exclusively in areas of career focus first,
and then, if desired, advance into the general education classes to earn
their Associate degrees. Our Diploma programs offer a solid grounding
for students interested in careers in business - the Associate Degree
program provides even more opportunities for career growth.
This allows students the option of entering the job market while they
continue their education, gaining valuable experience and earning a
salary at the same time ... just the opposite of most college and
university degree programs. If you've been considering attending a
California business school, consider the benefits of Santa Barbara
Business College.
