The The British School Manila is a fee paying, non-profit-making independent school catering to both local and expatriate children from Nursery to Key Stage 5. The academic year is divided into three terms, closely linked to UK term dates.
The The British School Manila is a member of FOBISSEA, IAPS and CIS. It is regularly inspected by Ofsted and was recently accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) to offer the IB diploma programme. The first International Baccalaureate (IB) class in KS5 commenced in September 2003.
In September 2001 the The British School Manila relocated to purpose built premises close to the business district of Makati, Manila. Facilities include a swimming pool, auditorium, playing field, two science laboratories, a technology suite, music and drama studio and four ICT laboratories. Classrooms are built on a cluster design in order to maintain the friendly 'small school feeling' that characterizes the British School.
The The British School Manila follows the UK National Curriculum with some modifications to reflect a multi-cultural student body. Children sit the National School Tests at KS1, KS2 and KS3 (as well as 11+, 12+ and 13+ if requested) GCSEs at the end of KS4 and IB in KS5.
Teachers at The British School Manila are all UK or Commonwealth trained and the maximum class size is 20 students. Each child is encouraged to develop at their own pace, benefiting from a high level of individual teacher attention and motivation. Emphasis is placed on self-discipline within a family atmosphere, providing an ideal environment for children of all nationalities.
