Vocandus was established in 2006 primarily as a private school for Polish children following the Polish syllabus. In 2009, this was expanded by the addition of International British School “vocandus”. Currently, the student body is drawn from five nations. The school's purpose is to offer the highest possible standard of education to enable each child to realise his or her academic, social and physical potential.
The school follows National Curriculum for England (Key Stage 1-4 – covering all the subjects) and provide opportunity to study from primary level to secondary level and the IGCSE exams and on to the A and AS level exams recognised all over the world. Curriculum is based on inquiry and critical thinking, and incorporates foreign languages (French and German), mathematics, geography, history and science. Art, music, physical education, and information technology are taught by specialist teachers. The programmes provide opportunities for students to work both independently and collaboratively with the aim of helping them to learn to solve problems and meet challenges. There is also a wide range of extra-curricular activities including art, music lessons, golf, swimming lessons at the best swimming pool in the area, football and beach volleyball in the school grounds and a wide range of social activities such as visits to the theatre or cinema. For Polish students the Polish Curriculum is also covered.
The school is located in a quiet suburb of L?z and is extremely secure with continuous monitoring of all who enter and leave the building. There is a dining room where breakfast and lunch are available in home-cooked style. The school has ten classrooms, each one named after a foreign country, a fully equipped language laboratory and a computer room kitted out with Apple computers, as is each classroom. In addition, some of the classrooms are equipped with electronic interactive boards. There is also a 52” television and a piano.
As well as academic subjects, the school strives to teach students life skills such as respect for each other as well as human rights and tolerance towards all regardless of race or religious beliefs
