Al Jazeera Academy was founded in September 2002 and offers an international curriculum to students aged 3-18.
The staff at Al Jazeera Academy are experienced and highly qualified and come from Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK. The school has developed an international curriculum for students from pre-school to year 9. The curriculum is based on the English National Curriculum and incorporates elements from Australia, New Zealand, the USA, South Africa, Canada and other countries. The Arab language is a key element of the curriculum for all students, both native and non-native speakers of Arabic from Qatar and other countries.
In the secondary years boys and girls are taught separately and follow the International GCSE. In Years 12 and 13 students will undertake the International Baccalaureate Diploma.
School hours at Al Jazeera Academy are 07: 30-12 noon for pre-school classes, 07: 30-13: 00 for reception and primary classes, 07: 25-13: 00 for secondary classes. After school activities take place on a voluntary basis on Saturdays and Mondays each week from 13: 15 to 14: 15. There are three terms: September to mid-December; January to mid-April and late April to end June. The Academy also observes the national public holidays in Qatar, including Eid Al Fitr and the Eid Al Adha.
The campus at Al Jazeera Academy is located in spacious grounds at Abu Hamour in Doha.
