MTIS is authorised by the International Baccalaureate to teach its three challenging academic programmes and is fully accredited by the Ministry of Education in Romania. The school also periodically undergoes demanding external evaluation carried out by the National Quality Assurance in Education Agency, and is a regular member of the Council of International Schools and of the European Council of International Schools. MTIS is the first school in Romania to offer the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations to its students. MTIS operates in two adjacent campuses near the verdant Baneasa Forest in the North of Bucharest, and presently has over 400 students in its pre-primary, primary, middle and high school divisions. Sixty percent of students are Romanian nationals and forty percent are international, representing over 25 nationalities. The faculty and staff are highly qualified and participate in the continuous professional development programmes offered in both national and international networks. MTIS offers the prestigious International Baccalaureate Exams, as well as the International Baccalaureate continuum of learning ranging from early years to high school level. Preschool and Primary students through Grade 4 follow the IB Primary Years Programme in either English or bilingual English-Romanian; they may also study an optional international language at B level – French, German or Spanish, starting in the 2nd Grade. MTIS offers mother tongue classes upon special request. In Grades 5 through 10, students follow the English or bilingual IB Middle Years Programme, and study a required additional international language. This secondary programme is designed to prepare them for entry into the rigorous, internationally recognized IB Diploma Programme in English, or the Romanian National Baccalaureate bilingual programme, both available in grades 11 and 12. MTIS is presently the only school in Romania to offer two baccalaureates to choose from: the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the Romanian National Baccalaureate. To this date, our baccalaureate pass rate average for both types of exams is 100%.
