The modern purpose-built premises include 62 classrooms, three science laboratories, two gymnasiums, library, art room, music room, 500-seat theatre, full dining facilities, football pitch with artificial grass and a Sports Centre with two heated swimming pools, multi-sports hall and fitness rooms. The school is located in a residential area of Barcelona, 15 km from the city centre. At Europa International School, all educational levels are taught from 12 months to 18 years of age. The academic programme is national and international. The teaching is based on an ongoing relationship between parents, students and educators. Within the School, the current curriculum takes into consideration each student's skills and preferences and students are educated so that they can complete the new 'Bachilleratos' (Spanish System) and the International Baccalaureate which is planned for the future. One of the priorities of the school is for students to be fluent in Spanish, Catalan and English and possess a high level of French and German or Chinese by the time they finish their education. All teachers hold university degrees and/or teaching certificates and have a wide range of teaching experience. Pupils are taught approximately 80% of the school day through English from the ages of three to six. In the Primary and Secondary Schools, this percentage is approximately 33% - 50%. International exchange programmes with students from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds, international sporting tournaments and participation in different international activities (e. g. MUN, Mondialogo, GYLC etc) are also organized. Provision is made for a wide range of cultural activities among which drama, choir, ballet, dance and music figure prominently. Pupils are also offered a chance to participate in a variety of sports activities. Europa International School strives for academic achievement, competence, clear structure, exploration and self-education as an essential foundation for a successful future. |
