The school teaches from infants through to university level with a bilingual English-Spanish programme in the lower years followed by the IBO’s Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme in Secondary. The school is presently a candidate for the PYP programme to start in 2007. Beyond the International Curriculum SEK has developed its own original educative system based on the “Intelligent Classroom” involving student centred learning in large technologically equipped and flexible centres. SEK is innovative and at the forefront of many dynamic and modern educational projects, including “Mindlab”, “Learning to be” and “Learning to learn” developed by its own professional staff. SEK Cuidalcampo opened in 1975 and is one of the largest centres based in the northern suburbs of Madrid. The school has an extension of 50.000 m2. In the back area there are two buildings aimed to school activities. The two buildings are joined by an astronomical observatory. In the central part of the school there are the football field and basketball courts, on one of the sides is the dining hall and the services and on the other side the sports centre and the indoor swimming pool, and just in front the main offices and the Administration office of the campus. “Aulas Inteligentes” with library and resource centres, Physics, Chemistry and Natural Science laboratories, general library, ICT room, arts and crafts room, movement, and three music rooms and judo gym. These are some of the main outbuildings of the campus, all of them equipped with the best and most modern didactic resources. There is also a big sports complex with an area of 10.000 m2 with five tennis courts, four paddle courts with grandstand, five basketball courts and skating rink, and an athletics track. Admission is based on previous schools records, interviews and levels of language. |
