Learning Support Programme
Sotogrande International School (SIS), founded in 1978, is a leading international, co-educational day and boarding school, accredited by the Council of International Schools, the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, and the National Association of British Schools in Spain, offering a high quality education to a diverse international community.
SIS is an authorised International Baccalaureate (IB) school, providing an integrated curriculum through the IB primary years, IB middle years and prestigious IB diploma programmes. The school uses innovative learning strategies that prepare students for a technological, multicultural and global society, and graduates consistently gain entrance to top universities worldwide. Commitment to inclusion and individual learners is evident in the extensive English language and special learning support.
The school is authorised to offer a convalidated programme for Spanish students, who are able to enter Spanish universities directly with an IB diploma.
The modern campus is designed to reflect a philosophy of inquiry-based, collaborative and individual learning that develops high achieving, committed students with an appreciation of cultural diversity. The school places great emphasis on technology as a tool to support learning and provides an infrastructure that allows on-line learning at school and at home. A wireless network links the entire campus, with data-projectors and interactive white-boards in many classrooms, and, through the school virtual learning environment (VLE), students have access to learning anywhere, anytime.
Expressive arts and sport are key features of SIS, with extension programmes in golf, tennis, sailing, art & design and dance. Students participate and compete in a comprehensive range of sporting and artistic events, activities, productions, competitions and tours. Facilities include a theatre, art and music studios, multi-purpose sports hall, swimming pool, outdoor basketball/football court and an all-weather sports field and running track. Talented musicians and drama students are prepared for examinations with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, Trinity Rock School and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
SIS offers a unique residential and cultural experience for boarding students who live in modern accommodation on campus. Boarders have access to school facilities that provide excellent opportunities for recreation and study, with all the comforts of a home.
The school has high quality staff, with extensive international experience, supported by professional development, through University of Bath MA and IB Teacher Award programmes.
