Australian International School Malaysia

At AISM, we believe that each individual is our prime concern.  We aim to cater for gifted and talented children who need acceleration programs in one or more disciplines, for students with specific learning difficulties and for children of non-English speaking backgrounds either through specialized programs or through our policy of differentiating the curriculum.

We believe children respond to the high expectations of others. AISM aims therefore to bind the School and the home together in the crucial tasks of building character in our young people, of fostering their commitment to excellence and engendering a sense of personal responsibility.

For Australian expatriates, a seamless transfer between Australian schools in Australia and AISM is afforded by the provision of the NSW Board of Studies Curriculum, term dates that follow closely the four term dates of Australian Schools and a daily cycle of classes that fits the usual Australian pattern.  All students are advantaged by the NSW Board of Studies Curriculum as its exit credential, the HSC, meets entry standards for some of the most prestigious universities in the world and allows access to all Australian and New Zealand universities.  AISM will continue to explore ways in which the School can provide further appropriate curriculum alternatives for other clients whilst maintaining excellence.

We have an absolute commitment to the education of the whole person.  To this end, AISM will seek to provide ‘cutting edge’ facilities, high quality extra- curricular programs and excellent, committed teachers.

Our aims are to:

  • Create a safe learning environment in which students can develop and apply rigorous and creative thinking

  • Challenge individuals to constantly improve upon their  personal best’ in academic and extra-curricular effort and results

  • Provide a broad curriculum including the major disciplines

  • Utilize the rich resources of the Malaysian culture and environment to encourage understanding and tolerance

  • Encourage the individual to accept challenge so as to become independent, responsible, responsive and interdependent

  • Stimulate an awareness of the local and the global communities of each individual and their environments so as to develop each student’s willingness to be responsible and compassionate within these

  • Foster the physical, social and emotional development of students and care for all members of the school community.

Australian Academic Staff


Nearly all the teachers at the School are Australian or Australian trained.

In addition to exhibiting typical Australian attitudes of fairness, friendship, egalitarianism and openness, our staff foster a learning atmosphere that encourages creativity, confidence and caters for individual differences.
