Study at California State University Los AngelesCalifornia State University, Los Angeles, also called CSULA was established as a public university in 1947. CSULA offers enrollment to over 20,000 students in its various nationally recognized science, arts, humanities, business, engineering, education, criminal justice, and nursing programs. There are 6 colleges that comprise the academic departments and divisions of CSULA: Students from CSULA’s College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology have won national scholarships at the American Solar Challenge for the creation of advanced vehicles. The Golden Eagles, the name of CSULA’s sports teams, include separate baseball, basketball, soccer, cross country, volleyball, tennis, indoor and outdoor track and field teams. Well known alumni of this university includes NASA personalities like Samuel Durrance and Sy Liebergot, authors Octavia Butler and Joseph Wambaugh, the famous tennis player Billie Jean King and several other well known actors and athletes. Los Angeles, CA is home to Cal State L.A.. Los Angeles is a large city. The school is a public institution. Degrees at Cal State L.A. go up to the Doctoral degree. Students commonly pursue studies in art studies and family and social work. Prospective students are advised that admissions are not open to all; the school selects from among qualified applicants.
