Study at East Mississippi Community CollegeEast Mississippi Community College was originally established as the East Mississippi Junior College in 1927. Even before that, in 1912, it existed as the Kemper County Agricultural High School. The main campus is located in Scooba, Mississippi. The college also operates the following campuses: East Mississippi Community College, or EMCC, offers a wide variety of academic and technical programs as well as distance learning courses. Students can earn associate’s degrees in arts, science, and nursing through EMCC. The men’s sports teams of EMCC are known as the Lions, while the women’s teams are called the Lady Lions. They participate in a number of sports including baseball, basketball, football, golf, soccer, and softball. Noted author and social entrepreneur Dr. Donald C. Simmons, Jr. is among the illustrious alumni of this college. East Mississippi Community College can be found in Scooba, MS (a quiet rural area). The school is a public institution.
