Study at East Stroudsburg University of PennsylvaniaEast Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania was established in 1893 as the East Stroudsburg Normal School. It was later renamed the East Stroudsburg State Teachers College and became East Stroudsburg State College in 1960. It gained university status in 1983 and settled on its present name in the same year. The main campus covers more than 210 acres in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. ESU is organized into various colleges. These include: The sports teams of ESU are known as the Warriors. Though most teams at ESU competes in the NCAA Division II, the wrestling and volleyball teams of the university compete in the NCAA Division I. Its athletics department fields more than 10 men's and women's sports teams. Some of the notable alumni of ESU are Noah Samara, the founder of WorldSpace; Jim Saxton, U.S. Congressman from New Jersey; and Mike Reichenbach, linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1984-1989. Students attend East Stroudsburg University in East Stroudsburg, PA, a town not far from a more urbanized area. The school is a public institution. East Stroudsburg University degrees go up to the Master's degree. The school is known for its programs in hospitality, education and teaching, and nutrition and exercise therapy.
