Study at George Washington University
George Washington University is a private, coeducational university located in Washington, D.C. The school was chartered on February 9, 1821 as the Columbian College in the District of Columbia by an Act of Congress. Since that time it has developed into a nonsectarian research institution.
GU offers a variety of undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs in business, social sciences, international affairs, medicine, education, public health, and law. The main GW campus covers 43-acres and is located in downtown Foggy Bottom. GW is organized into nine schools and colleges, each with a different dean and organization.
The sports teams of GW are nicknamed Colonials and their official mascot is George. GW is a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference and most of its teams play at the NCAA Division I level.
