Study at Keene State College
Keene State College is a liberal arts college located in Keene, New Hampshire. It is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. It was founded in 1909 as a teacher's college. Keene State College enrolls more than 6,000 students annually. It offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse Course Topics. KSC boasts of an active Greek life. There are several fraternities and sororities on campus, including Phi Mu Delta, Tau Kappa Epsilon, Delta Phi Epsilon and Sigma Rho Upsilon. Keene State College’s sports teams participate in the Little East Conference of the NCAA Division III. Its official mascot is the Owl. The main campus of Keene State is in Keene, NH (a town not particularly near any major cities). The school is a public school. Keene State offers degrees up to the Post-Master's certificate. The school offers more choices of majors than most colleges its size. Keene State students most commonly major in a field related to drama and performing arts, photography and commercial art, education and teaching, engineering technician, and therapy and counseling. The school does not accept everyone who applies. In 2007, SAT verbal scores of half of students were 450 to 540. Three-fourths of students accepted in 2007 had SAT math scores of 450 or more. The school offers tenure to reward and retain some professors. Salaries for full-time faculty at Keene State are higher than most, allowing the school to afford quality teaching. In 2007, the school had 5,100 enrolled students. Keene State is generally not a school for part-time students. Many students at the school live in campus housing.
