Macon State College, also referred to as MSC, is a coeducational, public institution located in Macon, Georgia, United States. The college also has a satellite campus in Warner Robins, Georgia. It is part of the University System of Georgia and was established in October 1965. Classes started in 1968 after the college's name changed to Macon Junior College. In 1997, it received its present moniker. MSC now grants admission to over 6,000 students annually. The schools under Macon State College include the following: The College runs a Wellness Program for student which offers a variety of intramural sports and a number of recreational activities. The campus of Macon State is in Macon, GA, which is a rural site not far from an urban area. The school is a public institution. Degrees at Macon State include, at the school's highest level, the Bachelor's degree. The school has a tighter focus on specific Course Topics than most colleges its size. Macon State is known for its programs in computer science and engineering. Admission at the school is selective, not open to all who apply. Many applicants are from out of state, an indication of the quality or special character of the school. The school has a tenure system for senior faculty. In 2007, Macon State had 6,464 students enrolled (4,458 full-time equivalent). A lot of students at the school attend part-time.
