The first campus of National American University was established in Rapid City, South Dakota, in 1941. Then known as National School of Business, the school began with a specialized curriculum focused on business administration. Since that time, the curriculum has expanded and today includes a wide variety of high-demand career fields including healthcare, information technology, nursing, and much more. The University itself has also expanded, sprouting 11 other campus locations throughout South Dakota, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado and New Mexico. The 13th campus of National American University is its online campus which offers associate, bachelor's and graduate degrees completely online.

Course Topics

The curriculum offerings include degrees in accounting, general education studies, equine science, information technology, paralegal studies, medical assisting, medical administrative assistant, applied management, business administration, therapeutic massage, athletic training, health care management, nursing, pre-engineering, organizational leadership and veterinary technology. Emphasis areas have been added to many of these programs, allowing students to focus on specific disciplines within the general headings. Programs lead to diplomas and Associates, Bachelors, or Masters degrees.
