Study at Patrick Henry Community College
Patrick Henry College, popularly known as PHCC, is a private, two-year, community college located in Purcellville, Virginia, United States. It was established in the year 1962 as a two-year branch of the University of Virginia's School of General Studies. PHCC is part of the Virginia Community College System. PHCC offers over 30 associate degree programs, more than 10 certificate programs, and over 40 career studies certificate programs in diverse areas. PHCC’s athletics department sponsors several men’s and women’s sports teams. PHCC is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). The athletes participate in men’s baseball, women’s softball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, wrestling, and cheerleading. Their official mascot is the Sentinel. The main campus of Patrick Henry Community College is in Martinsville, VA (a town not particularly near any major cities). The school is a public school. Patrick Henry Community College offers degrees up to the Associate's degree. The school students most commonly major in a field related to engineering technician and therapy and counseling. Patrick Henry Community College admits all qualified candidates under its open-admission policy. The school offers tenure to reward and retain some professors. In 2007, Patrick Henry Community College had 2,948 enrolled students. Older students (40+ years old, e.g.) are welcome and common at the school.
