Study at Saint Bonaventure University
Saint Bonaventure University, also referred to as SBU, is located in Allegany, New York, United States. It was founded in the year 1858. The Franciscan Brothers played an important role in establishing this university. Students are offered a wide variety of academic programs including social science, biochemistry, accounting, computer scienc, and psychology. The university is divided into four degree-granting schools, which are: SBU's athletic teams are nicknamed as Bonnies. The men's teams participate in different sports such as basketball, baseball, golf, cross country, swimming and diving, soccer, and tennis. The women's teams compete in a range of sports including softball, soccer, basketball, cross country, swimming and diving, tennis, and lacrosse. The campus of Saint Bonaventure University is in Saint Bonaventure, NY, which is a self-contained town. Its Roman Catholic nature is one of the defining aspects of the school. Saint Bonaventure University is a private, not-for-profit institution. Degrees at the school include, at the school's highest level, the Post-Master's certificate. Saint Bonaventure University is known for its programs in media, business and management, and education and teaching. Admission at the school is selective, not open to all who apply. Three quarters of students in 2007 had SAT verbal scores of at least 460. Half of math SAT scores of accepted students fell between 450 and 580. The school has a tenure system for senior faculty.
