Study at Saint Edward's University
St. Edward's University was established in 1878 by Rev. Edward Sorin, Superior General of the Congregation of Holy Cross. It was then known as St. Edward's Academy. With an increase in enrollment figures, it became a college and was finally granted university status in 1925. It is now a private Roman Catholic institution offering enrollment to more than 4,000 undergraduates and postgraduates. The university is located south of the Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas. In 2004, the U.S. News & World Report ranked the university among the “best colleges” in the western region of the United States. St. Edward's University offers bachelors and masters degrees through the following schools: The athletics teams of St. Edward's University participate in sports like baseball, football, softball, basketball, cross country, lacrosse, golf, soccer, volleyball and tennis. They are nicknamed the Hilltoppers. Saint Edward's University is in a large city, in Austin, TX. The school has a Roman Catholic religious affiliation.
