Study at Wartburg College
Wartburg College is a public, coeducational, four-year, liberal arts college located in Waverly, Iowa, United States. Apart from its main campus in Waverly, the college also has a satellite campus, located in Denver, Colorado. The satellite campus is known as Wartburg West. The college was established in 1852 by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The college offers bachelor's degrees in a wide range of educational streams including art, computer science, modern languages, religion and applied music. The main campus at Waverly spreads across approximately 118 acres of rural land. The athletic teams of Wartburg College are known as the Knights. The official mascot of the college is the Knight. The students of Wartburg College participate in intercollegiate football, basketball, baseball, cross country, tennis, soccer, wrestling, volleyball and softball. The college also has a coed cheerleading squad. The campus of Wartburg College is in Waverly, IA, which is a town not particularly near any major cities. Its Evangelical Lutheran Church nature is one of the defining aspects of the school. Wartburg College is a private, not-for-profit institution. Degrees at the school include, at the school's highest level, the Bachelor's degree. Wartburg College has a greater breadth of degree programs (majors) than most colleges of its size. The school is known for its programs in music, science, media, mathematics, and nutrition and exercise therapy. Admission at Wartburg College is selective, not open to all who apply. Three quarters of students in 2007 had SAT verbal scores of at least 480. Half of math SAT scores of accepted students fell between 510 and 630. Wartburg College has a tenure system for senior faculty. The full-time faculty at the school is well-paid, which often goes with faculty quality.
