Learning Support Programme
The Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz campus is a co-educational international boarding school located at 1, 750 metres above sea level near the alpine resort of St. Moritz, Switzerland. Founded over 100 years ago, it is an independent school administered by a school management board and a board of directors.
Students from around the world follow programmes leading to the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), the Swiss Matura and German Abitur. Approximately 100 students are from local families. Tolerance and respect for community values are at the heart of a Lyceum education. Sport plays a major role in school life and there is a wide variety to choose from, including: golf, skiing, snowboarding, ice hockey, soccer, cricket, Eton Fives, tennis, volleyball, basketball and rugby. The Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz also has a drama group, school choir and school band.
The school has an English-medium IB Diploma and pre-IB programme, and German-medium programmes for the Matura and Abitur. In the pre-IB years, international students take the following subjects: English, German (first and second language), French, World Studies, History, Business Studies, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, IT, Visual Arts, Music, Geography and PE. In the IB Diploma years, students choose from: German A1, English A1, Language A1 self-taught, English A2 and B, German A2 and B, French B, Spanish ab initio, Economics HL/SL, History HL/SL, Mathematics HL/SL, Mathematical Studies, Physics HL/SL, Chemistry HL/SL, Biology HL/SL and Visual Arts HL/SL.
The school provides careers advice based on the services of the Independent Schools Careers Organisation (ISCO). A college counsellor advises students on university applications. The school is a SAT test center and also offers Cambridge FCE and CAE exams in the pre-IB.
Boarding students live on campus in comfortable study bedrooms, shared and single, housed in separate houses for girls and boys. The campus occupies an extensive site with its own sports fields overlooking the alpine village of Zuoz. It is located in an environment notable for its health-promoting qualities (high altitude, low pollen, dry, sunny climate).
The Lyceum Alpinum is an IB World School and is a CIS Accredited school. It is also authorised by the Education Department of the Canton of Graub?den/Grisons (Matura) and the German Kultusministerium (Abitur), and is a member of ECIS and of the Swiss Group of International Schools (SGIS).
