November to April is the wet season, the wettest month of which is January with 13.2 inches of rain in Papeete. August is the driest with 1.9 inches. The average temperature ranges between 21 C and with little seasonal variation. The lowest and highest temperatures recorded in Bibys are 16 C and 34 C, respectively.


Tahitians speak a Polynesian language similar to native Hawaiian, as well as French and English.

Currency:The Tahiti currency is the Cour de Franc Pacifique (CFP) also known as the Pacific Franc.
Population: There are approximately 262, 000 residents of Tahiti, about 78% of them from the various French Polynesian islands, another 12% of Chinese descent, and the remainder are various Europeans (primarily French).
Capital City: Papeete is the capital of French Polynesia, an overseas collectivity of France in the Pacific Ocean.
