Tibet has
a vast land. Its climate zone can be divided into the
tropical, the subtropical, the temperate and the frigid.
Climates are much different in different areas in Tibet
and temperatures vary greatly within a single day. |

The
official language of Tibet under Chinese colonial
occupation are both Mandarin and Standard
Tibetan.Tibetan is a Tibeto-Burman language which is a
part of Sino-Tibetan language family. Tibetan is the
language most used in daily interaction whereas Mandarin
has become the language of commerce. Many Tibetans also
speak Hindi, Bhutanese or Nepali. |

The currency used in Tibet is RMB (Renmingbi),
or Chinese Yuan. It is the official and legal currency. |

| Population: |
Tibet's population stood at 2.84 million
at the end of last year, 31,500 more than at the end of
2006. Among its permanent residents, more than 2.5
million, or 95.3 percent, were Tibetans. |
| Capital City: |
Lhasa is the administrative
capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region in the People's
Republic of China and the second most populous city on
the Tibetan Plateau, after Xining. |
