School Introduction

Functional English is a small, friendly school with a Christian basis, located in the historic seaside town of Whitby - the heart of the North York Moors National Park.

Whitby is a historic seaside town in the beautiful North York Moors National Park. Students live with host families and study together in our school building. Our social programme includes home visits, international evenings, sports, dancing and country walks. Whitby welcomes students and many friendships have been made here. The school has listening and computer facilities. As a Christian school we have a worship service each day and contacts with local churches, but Christian activities are optional and we welcome everyone.
