Study Digital Design in Scotland

THE GLASGOW SCHOOL OF ART

Digital Design Studio

The Digital Design Studio (DDS) is driven by an ethos which ensures that the DDS remains a special place to learn, work and do business. We encourage our students and staff to "think out of the box". By ensuring a true multi disciplinary mix, we actively promote new, visions, perspectives, insights and knowledge. In essence we wish to foster and fuse the creativity of Artists' with the intellectual rigour of Scientists', with education fueling the desire for research and knowledge.

I hope you enjoy learning more about our programmes. We welcome the opportunity of a dialogue, in which we can explore your ideas and interests for our mutual benefit.

M.Des in Animation

The Masters in Animation aims to provide an academic framework, which allows postgraduate students to explore concepts, aesthetics and narratives within the language of animation and sound. The programme of study is designed to provide a foundation in the processes, craft and theoretical background required to develop a research project within this medium.

The programme equips students with skills in pre-production, production and post-production studies, with emphasis on story telling, script writing, sound design, character design, set and lighting design and storyboarding.

M.Des in Sound for the Moving Image

This one-year programme will enable students to explore theory, concepts, aesthetics and technology within the process of sound design & music composition for the visual environment; film, web, television, theatre and installation-based art.

There is a huge demand worldwide for programmes in music and audio production and many undergraduate programmes exist. However, there are significantly fewer post-graduate level courses available and almost none explicitly aimed at sound production for the visual environment. By providing the MA in Visual Sound the GSA is aiming to address this shortage allowing students to undertake a course of study not widely available.

M.Phil (Research)

The MPhil in 2D/3D Motion Graphics is a 3-term full-time programme delivered over 30 weeks, running from October to June. The MPhil is a one year research degree where students will be offered tutorial support and supervision whilst developing a practical project based on individual programmes of study. Students embarking on the MPhil programme will have completed the one-year Masters in Animation to PgDip level, or have skills/experience in animation software. They will also be expected to manage all aspects of their Individual Programmes of Study.
