and andrew Dickson, Cornell University is a private university with four
state-supported statutory or contract colleges. It is a member of the Ivy League
and the university is ranked fourth in the world in producing the largest number
of graduates, who pursue PhDs at American institutions.
The University is organized into seven undergraduate colleges and seven
graduate divisions. The undergraduate divisions are:

in Ithaca, NY. Ithaca is a small city. The school is a private, not-for-profit
institution. Students can earn degrees up to and including the Doctoral degree
at Cornell. Course Topics The school has a greater breadth of
degree programs (majors) than most colleges of its size. Cornell is known for
its programs in hospitality, science, engineering, and agricultural science and
management. Cornell Selectivity Admission to the school is not
automatic; not everyone who applies gets in. Hats off to the 21% of those who
apply who get accepted. Three quarters of students in 2007 had SAT verbal scores
of at least 630. Half of math SAT scores of accepted students fell between 660
and 770. Faculty Cornell maintains a faculty/student ratio
(full-time) which is better than most colleges. The school has a tenure system
for senior faculty. The full-time faculty at Cornell is well-paid, which often
goes with faculty quality. Student enrolment Students numbered
19,800 in 2007 at the school. Student Life Full-time students are
the norm at Cornell. The school offers dorm rooms to a higher percentage of its
students than do most colleges. Cornell offers students meal plans. The school
values student athletics, and belongs to the Ivy Group.
